Every few weeks, a new headline declares that AI is about to replace millions of jobs. Executives warn of massive disruption. Analysts predict sweeping automation. Social media amplifies every fear.


But when you look past the noise and into the data, a different story emerges, one that’s less about technology and more about incentives, leadership narratives, and the structural realities of how organizations actually work.


AI is a big deal. But not for the reasons most people think.


The Fear: “AI Is Going to Replace Everyone”

People aren’t irrational to be worried. Major companies have cited AI as a factor in layoffs. Boards and investors are demanding “AI transformation.” And generative AI tools can now produce code, documents, tests, and analysis at speeds no human can match.


The fear feels intuitive:
